Vision

'Withernsea Growing Together is sowing the seeds to a community-focused food source.'We want to enable residents of Withernsea to be more self-reliant and prepared for the future by growing more food for themselves and the community.We are offering the tools, the space, knowledge and resources to get a garden growing.The group was founded in 2020 in response to the anxiety around COVID-19 and the fragility of globalised food supplies. It has now become even more relevant due to the increasing amounts of people using food banks.We hope Withernsea will become a unique seaside town showcasing how having more growing spaces and being a community that shares food with each other can improve people's lives.

We use "no dig" techniques which are as natural as possible. No pesticides and no weed killers are used which enhances soil health and biodiversity. Growing using cleaner methods results in more nutritious, fresh food.Where possible we use recycled, up-cycled and reused materials.We aim to expand our community of growers by working together to reduce isolation and maintain well-being, helping neighbours and sharing produce and resources.We will make food easier to access from local sources with transparency in its origin. This in turn will help people to make better informed choices about what they eat, which will impact health in a positive way.

Everyone is welcome to pitch in. We want to connect residents together and provide a way to share space, plants, seeds and fresh produce.We have a wide collection of books, tools and other items we are able to lend out to help you get started with growing fruit and veg.
